Inspired. Uncovered. Honored.
The Untold Institutional History of the Pennsylvania Senate

After months of dedicated efforts, the Senate Library now welcomes Members, staff and visitors to explore its transformed space. For over two hundred years, the library of the Senate has served as the major source of information on the Institution of the Senate. In September 2018, however, the Senate Library added to its mission another important role - that of keeper and teller of the Senate story.

The Senate and the Senate Library have a fascinating past, which was recently uncovered and will now be shared in this historic space. The idea for such homage was inspired by our nation's Library of Congress and has been brought to life through the exhibition Inspired. Uncovered. Honored. The Untold Institutional History of the Pennsylvania Senate.

The Library now houses, in addition to its wonderful collection of law books, periodicals and other legal resources, a permanent exhibition and three featured exhibitions, all which tell key parts of The Senate Story. This new mission honors the legacy of the Senate by sharing the Senate's historical legislative and civic functions with all who enter its space, taking them on a journey from the Senate of the past to the Senate of today.
